Pulse Oximeters, also known as pulse ox, oxygen saturation monitors, blood oxygen meters, or oxygen readers, are noninvasive clamp devices that detect abnormal blood oxygen levels. These devices clamp on your finger and are able to measure the blood oxygen level (SaO2, SpO2, or O2SAT) and the heart rate or beats per minute (BPM). These devices emit light waves that pass painlessly through the body to a photodetector. The light wavelength measurement from its journey through the tissue and blood vessels provides an assessment of blood oxygenation. These Oxygen level testers are useful for screening blood oxygen levels in cases if bacterial and viral infection.
